Artwork Description

The wild winds of Bass Strait-the “Roaring Forties” bring the most dramatic weather to Tasmania and its islands. I am drawn to these skies; here reminisced of Badger Corner Flinders Island. The Mathinna beds at Badger Corner are the oldest rocks on the island, dating back to over 400 million years.. a staunch testament to their fortitude against the elements despite their scars and wear. The oceans and rocks of the Furneaux group clash have claimed many an early mariner and continue to do so. Such drama intrigues me and prompts me to create a language to convey it.

Artist Bio

Rose is an award winning artist that has exhibited with success at the Galleries of; Manyung, Gallery Oscar, Seaview, Cube 37, Artycles &Treasures, Josephines(@ The Briars) Linden, Steps Carlton, Main Street Gallery Rutherglen, Panoply Gallery Sth Yarra and Oakhill galleries as well as numerous Rotary Exhibitions, hotels and Hospitals. Her work hangs in private collections both in Australia and overseas (including LA actor/celebrity Clive Robertson) and BHP Billiton executives. Rose (a keen photographer) feels privileged and blessed to have been born and raised on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria which has been a constant source of inspiration to her as ‘the backyard from paradise’ However her subject matter ranges far and wide as she visits and is influenced by the contrasts of this country. She has recently re-located to the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland to continue her romance with forest, farmland, sea and sky.
“As an artist I explore the landscape, deliberately disassembling, rearranging, deleting the clutter and working with what essence remains in the head and the heart….(seeing things that often are seen only with peripheral vision.)” It is the artist’s mission to attempt to convey what is inexpressible in words, allowing the subject to speak. Paintings of such energy charged places wish to relate the response of the energy or mood found there…in subliminal messages and resonating memories (for both the artist and hopefully the viewer)”
Her proudest achievements to date are being selected as a finalist in the Pro Hart Outback Art Prize, Doyles Art Prize, John Villiers Outback Art Prize, The Lethbridge Landscape prize and John Glover Art Prize.
