Connection

“Connection” is a painting of the cilia that line our stomachs. It’s all about being in touch with your feelings, your gut. Honouring your intuition. Making and nurturing healthy connections with your self, others and your environment. The intention being to remind the viewer of the value of healthy relationships, honesty and integrity. Nurturing the self so that you can nurture others.
In 2022 I saw a medical image of the cilia lining our gut and was struck by its beauty. That all of us carry this beauty inside our bodies. At the time someone close to me was suffering from complications of poor gut health. The two combined for me. The importance of taking care of and listening to ourselves.

Strachen’s practise is based on a visual exploration of deep listening. Taking the perceived and revealing the elemental. Representing the underlying energy. Strachen’s work resonates with a love of her environment and the inherent relationship between things.
Based in Sydney, Rosemary is a contemporary, multi dimensional artist whose works encompass painting, installation, sculpture and graffiti. Her work often employs repetition, pattern making and a joyous love of colour.
