Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
The south island of New Zealand is a place of mountains and the lush greenness of the land beckoned. Large mountains are relatively unfamiliar to me, as I grew on a perfectly flat plain on the Darling Downs. So the challenge was to interpret those I saw with direction and surface, colour & tone. This scene also allowed me to render textures of the ground in mostly random ways, allowing my brushes and the paint to do the work. This is something that I love to do. I really like the uneven textures in the foreground of this painting. This painting could happily live in an entrance or hallway, where one could stop for a moment and take in itβs peaceful nature.
This painting is an original artwork, matted (ready for a frame with glass) and in an acid-free Krystal seal bag for transport protection.
