Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

I was asked to brighten a deep blue wall at the St Vincents North Brisbane Hospital as part of their ‘Outside In’ exhibition program. I painted a series of sunsets inspired by photographs I'd captured from Fraser Island. I have since reworked this sunset painting to include a nautilus shell in acknowledgement to Hilma af Klint.

Mystical Lake St Clair with rocky foreshore. Tree covered mountains in the distance.Rainforest stream with large boldersTree branches overhang a turbulent billabong. This land if of high significance to indigenous people and I value being able to visit. Three rocky pillars rise way above a deep gorge below. Beyond one can see in the distance the surrounding mountain ranges, which seem to protect the sisters. There were 7 or more sisters in the past so they do need protection. The area around the sisters is dense with lush vegetation..
