Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas

Signed on the front.

This is a portrait of Adelaide based Writer-Director-Producer, Murali K. Thalluri. It is acrylic painted on linen, embedded with multiple layers of ink text in the shadows and hair, from the pages of his upcoming film script "ONE". Here I have captured both the unguarded and pensive side of him. Murali is a very open, friendly character, but also a very deep thinker, his writing and films often touch on dark topics. Using his writings in the shadows reflects this ambiguity between divinity and chaos. This piece was a semi-finalist in the 2014 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.
Year created: 2014
