Artwork Description

Nine small canvases fastened securely together form this artwork. While they were just pushed together layers of paint were added separately. The whole is contained in a narrow black wooden frame. Some paint was rolled on [white), while the orange was stamped on with a large disc of cork. The mauve was mixed and poured in a random design before the green was painted on to give a feeling of grass or stems. More black was dribbled here and there before The yellow was sprinkled as though it was sunlight. For a finale the red was mixed and thrown in generous sweeps. In between all these colours I had to wait for the preceding colour to dry so the whole procedure took some days. Fastening the canvases together was a tremendous challenge but finally stabilised with the help of wooden battens. It still looked a little unfinished so I had it professionally framed in a narrow black frame. The title of “Spring” was the first thing that came into my head and suddenly the random mauve looked a little like irises and other flowers. .D-Rings are attached for a hanging system as well as a double string for a single hanging point.

Artist Bio

Over the years I’ve experimented with all media - oils, acrylic, pastels (chalk and oil), watercolour, mixed media, collage, as well as various inks, pens and markers. Currently I’m favouring acrylic and watercolour.

As I’m based on the Northern Beaches most of my artworks, with few exceptions, are exhibited in that area.

Recently I’ve become interested in Urban Sketching. Until recently I only painted natural scenes. Now I’m enjoying the challenge of painting buildings and people .

I’ve travelled around Australia and other countries. Ive spent time painting in France and Italy and sketched in many other places. I enjoy the experience of mingling with people of different cultures.

Having participated in many exhibitions I’m now looking to the internet to reach a wider audience..
