Artwork Description

Water Dragons are a reptile (Lizard). Unlike most people I love all reptiles.
While living in Queensland I was fascinated by the little water dragons that would wait patiently eyeing off the crumb about to drop from my hand. They come in all colors and sizes.
This particular water dragon is a Chinese Water Dragon with attitude, which reveals a surprisingly pink neck. For me it was unexpected and wow!
The background was achieved using watered down ink pencils and the dragon in wax and oil pencils.
This reproduction has been sized to fit any A1 frame.

Artist Bio

The natural environment has always been a source of delight, wonder and inspiration. For me it's a spiritual connect I have when travelling around Australia, especially in Queensland and my home state Western Australia. The ancient and awesome grass trees of WA divine personalities that I must capture on film first and then attempt to draw later revealing the personality.
In Queensland it's the abundant diversity of colorful foliage, quirky trunks and branches, and massive ancient trees residing in the north.
More recently I have taken on a greater challenge in drawing one of my favorite animals, the reptile; specifically The Water Dragon.

I use archival pencils, wax, oil, and ink, textured medium, pan pastels, stylis for embossing and have recently introduced the use of airbrushing for the background. I'm always looking for new and interesting mediums and art tools to use. Archival paper.
My style is design. Design gives me the freedom to play with the subject using the pencils, medium, and scored paper to effect. I like to present clean lined artwork .

I am a self styled Artist with no training. However travelling for many years and joining local social community art groups has been a wonderful education in art. A validating and supportive experience. This is an ongoing activity for me where I can now share what I know.
