Artwork Description

This small, intimate work depicts a father and son at Manly Beach, captured in a moment of casual conversation and connection. I was drawn to their interaction, the father reclining comfortably on the bench, gesturing mid-story, while the son leans in, attentive and engaged. The ocean behind them provides a serene backdrop, grounding the scene in a sense of place and continuity. What resonated with me was the way the bench became more than just a seat, it became a stage for everyday relationships, where gestures, stories, and presence take shape against the stillness of the sea. This painting reflects the warmth of familial bonds and the beauty found in ordinary, fleeting moments by the water.
