As a boy I always had a love of nature and the country; the romance of the Australian outback, so it was a natural development to leave school and work on the land, jackerooing in South Eastern Australia and finally ending up overseeing properties in the Big Desert in North Western Victoria.
As for art, it was the only thing I excelled in at school and culminated in a dux of art prize in my final year.
Art remained dormant until my first trip to Europe in my late 20βs when I was literally blown away by so many wonderful paintings and styles, particularly the French Impressionists in Paris and Picasso in Barcelona. I returned convinced that I could emulate what I had seen but it has taken forty years of endeavour and experimentation to arrive at my current style.
My quest nowadays is for an expressive modern approach allowing paintings to take their own course.
With my passion for the landscape a large portion of my works are in this genre. Painting them transports me to the places that I know or have travelled through and is very satisfying.
I hope you enjoy my paintings.
