This is a story from my mother’s childhood, in a time before the people wore clothes. She and her two brothers and father made camps at this place, travelling between the big rockhole to smaller ones around it. The lived there for a long time, hunting malu ( red kangaroo), ngintaka (perentie monitor) and making damper. This was big country.
I have never seen this place, but it is up north, close to Uluru. I walk it in my memories, and in the painting I bring it to life. I paint this the way my mother painted, by mixing colours on the brush and spinning it over the canvas.
