'Girl in Red' was created as one of my final paintings for the Queensland College of Art and Design. She featured in my Grad Show. She was then the "poster girl" for a 2025 exhibition entitled "We Belong to Our Time."
She was born out of a 7 month project that involved a collaboration between myself and 19 other participants and generative AI, to explore the ethical limitations and creative possibilities of that technology.
I love abstract painted works and the background of "Girl in Red" is abstract acrylic. Having painted hte background, I then created an SVG image from a digital generative AI artwork that I had created as part of the project. I transformed the SVG image into a large scale stencil, which I then painted through with acrylic paint using rollers. The use of rollers was deliberate to reflect the machine origins of generative AI.
She is an extremely striking work and is reminiscent of the Pop Art movement of the mid to late-1950s. I hand framed her in a Meranti timber floating frame. She has D-rings and wire and is ready to be hung. She is life size and will be a signature work for any room in which she is situated.
She is signed on the front and I will provide a Certificate of Authenticity.
