‘The Ship’

That amazing feeling of the first glimpse of the sea and sand after the long walk to the beach…. The sight of a far off ship. Where is it heading?
This piece highlights the beautiful natural plants that surround the beaches of the Mornington Peninsula. I hope that you can almost feel the texture of the sand as you walk down the well worn path to the beach.

Ruth McIntosh has painted for many years and was fortunate to paint the portrait of Harold Mitchell, Jeanne Pratt, Petro Georgiou, George Dreyfuss and many other notable figures to submit to the Archibald prize. Her work has been exhibited in exhibitions such as the Hidden Faces of the Archibald consistently over the last ten years.
Her portrait of Harold Mitchell hangs in the Eltham College ‘Harold Mitchell Performing Arts Centre’.
She also taught senior art for many years.

Ruth studied the classical atelier method of oil painting under the esteemed artist David Gray in New York. She also enjoys using oils directly on the canvas.
Her large oils responding to the music of Mahler and her watercolor portraits of young emerging artists were exhibited at Tacit Art, Melbourne.

She now specializes in landscapes of the Mornington Peninsula using oils.
