Female wearing patterned dark blue dress sitting on a chair with a pale blue background and bright orange mandarins against a striking black floor.

WINTER SHOW
The exploration of the surreal transcends mere aesthetics; it becomes a profound examination of the intersection between reality and the fantastical. The recurring themes, though elusive, create a subtle thread that weaves throughout the collection; a visual symphony that resonates with the ebb and flow of the artist's creative process. Ultimately, this collection serves as an immersive experience, an odyssey into the realms of the artist's imagination. It challenges preconceived notions and invites viewers to embark on their own interpretive journey. In this fusion of form and emotion, the paintings not only reflect the artist's personal evolution but also beckon the audience to explore the limitless possibilities that lie within the intersection of the figurative and the abstract.

Artist Bio

Ryan Ahern is an Australian painter whose launch and debut exhibition was held at the celebrated Orangery Gallery under gallerist, concert pianist, conductor and former director of the West Australia Symphony Orchestra, Mark Coughlan. He has quickly become a highly collected artist in Western Australia and has exhibited alongside notable artists such as John Cullinane and Michael Doherty. His work is primarily abstract-figurative and is marked by a dark, nostalgic and a subdued realism, reminiscent of 20th century Post-Impressionism.

Ryan is currently a life drawing instructor and former Artist-in-Residence at the Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC) and teaches art at various educational institutions. His work can be found in a variety of private collections and in public exhibitions in Australia and overseas. Ryan's work has been collected by notable figures, including board members of PICA (Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts) and The Weld Club. He is predominantly represented by The Orangery Gallery, Juniper Galleries, Blush Retail Gallery and Kamile Gallery.

He was born in Perth Australia and for the later part of his life has lived abroad, from far-eastern Russia, to Borneo, to the Middle East. He often works from his Perth studio in Australia in the summer months and resides in Europe during the winter season.
