Sabrina Santana was born and raised in Sydney, NSW, Australia. For the past fifteen years, she has worked primarily with oil paint, recently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction, majoring in painting and sculpture. This formal training has strengthened her technical practice while supporting an ongoing exploration of materials, colour, and process.
For Sabrina, painting begins from an intuitive and deeply personal place. Guided by her knowledge of oil paint and other mediums, she approaches each work with openness and curiosity, continually exploring new ways of seeing and working. Her practice balances expressive freedom with a strong appreciation for realism, where careful observation and emotional presence meet on the canvas. Photographic references often form the starting point for her work, providing a foundation from which she interprets light, mood, and form through paint.
Inspired by everyday objects, quiet moments, and the emotions connected to them, Sabrina reflects on the subtle experiences of daily life and translates these observations into her work. Her paintings move between expressive abstraction and realism, most often appearing in portraiture, animal studies, and atmospheric night landscapes that capture moments of mood, presence, and reflection.
