Rusty Cockatoo

'Rusty Cockatoo' was inspired from the natural colours outside my door step. From the rich coloured soil, the organic timbers and the native birds that surround my home.

Its purpose is to give a 'pop' of colour and charm into a neutral space. It is acrylic paints on timber, I prefer painting on timber as it shows the smooth textures of the paint and allows for imperfections. This particular piece is on a handmade wooden frame.

I am a self taught Australian artist from Ipswich, QLD. I enjoy all aspects of art but am most passionate about natural and native flora and fauna. I love earthy tones and pops of colour. I also enjoy architectural drawings and adding character to everyday homes. I enjoy using all different mediums from acrylic on timber, to water paints. I was born and raised in Brisbane surrounded by my mothers artistic influence. I was free to try new things and encouraged to do so from an early age. Many aspects of life change but my love for art and expression has only developed. I have further grown my roots in the Ipswich area by building a home and career as a midwife. I continue to self teach and reflect on work I have done and learn what makes my heart happy. I paint my pieces in a dedicated art space in our home that is full of natural light and inspiration with gumtrees surrounding.
