Artist Bio

Sahar Doraki is a devoted and expressive painter whose creative journey began early in life. She first explored the knife painting technique under the guidance of Mr. Shahir, a respected Iranian artist, before refining her realist painting skills with mentorship from Rahim Navasi, one of Iran’s most acclaimed realist painters.
In late 2009, Sahar moved to Malaysia, immersing herself in the region’s rich artistic heritage. There, she studied Batik painting under master artist Mr. Sam Karuna and porcelain painting with internationally recognised artist Mrs. Nazli Kim Rozali. During this time, she also taught oil painting and completed numerous commissioned works.
Her artistic path continued in 2016 when she relocated to Australia. Inspired by the country’s natural landscapes and multicultural environment, she held her first Australian exhibition at the Royal Queensland Art Society Gallery in 2019.
A move to Darwin deepened her appreciation of multicultural influences before she settled in regional Queensland in 2021. There, she held a successful solo exhibition at the Lapunyah Art Gallery in Chinchilla in 2023. Later that year, she moved to Melbourne, where she continues to expand her creative practice.
Sahar’s work is rooted in realism but enriched with cultural motifs and expressive brushwork. Drawing inspiration from nature and the diverse cultures she has encountered, she blends traditional oil techniques with contemporary elements to create evocative paintings that invite viewers to explore beauty, connection, and layered storytelling.
