Artwork Description

The word “Arcadia” is used to describe a real or imaginary place offering peace.

The influence behind Arcadia is very personal. It represents an utopian escape from the invisible cage of mental illness.
Arcadia is a place where you can put aside your suffering, big or small, and find a peaceful moment.
A place where your mind is free of boundaries, cages and expectations.
A safe harbour to dream, to relax, to be all that you are meant to be, without judgement.

I hope when you gaze upon Arcadia, you embrace the beautiful sufferance of what it is to be human. Fall into the freedom that hope gives and find yourself floating, even for just a moment, in the wonder of it all.
Arcadia really exists inside us all.

Acrylic and various mediums including iridescent and blue and violet interference medium give the art work a magical glow when viewed from different angles.

The 12oz artist canvas is stretched by myself and is ready to hang .
The sides of the canvas are painted.
Finished with a non yellowing, satin polymer varnish.
Initials on the front.
Signed and dated on the back.
Certificate of Authenticity provided.
Thought beautiful as it is, if you wish to frame , I suggest either natural oak or black frame. The styling photo in the portfolio is showing an oak frame.
If you like Arcadia, but wish for a different size, I am happy to consult with you and customise an artwork for your needs.
Thank you for taking the time to enjoy the peace and magic of Arcadia.

Artist Bio

Sallie paints in the style of abstract expressionism to put her thoughts, raw emotion, fears and dreams onto the canvas.
Sallie draws inspiration from her personal experience living with mental illness and her empathetic sensitivities to create her works. Each piece is unique and tells its own story.

“The ability to create is empowering. Painting connects me to the feelings that are too complex for words to suffice. A part of me, my thoughts, my identity, is imprinted on the canvas.”

Sallie resides in Blackburn on Wurundjeri land with her husband, two teenage sons, and her menagerie of fur and feathered babies.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoyed creating it.
