Hi there!
Thanks for taking the time to find out more about me and my art practice.
After many years combining a busy teaching career with my art practice, I followed my heart and completed my Diploma of Visual Art to become a full-time visual artist in Canberra.
Australiaโs big landscapes are a constant theme in my work. I am compelled to capture the curving waterways, winding roads and blue hills I see around me both from the ground and from an aerial perspective.
I produce works on paper with water-based mediums such as watercolour, gouache and ink. I create landscapes in monotype printmaking techniques with transparent inks that push towards abstraction. My pen and watercolour sketches detail everyday scenes with unusual perspectives and distortions.
I have shown my work in a number of group exhibitions here in Canberra and I am currently working on a series of landscapes as the Artist-in-Residence at The Crisp Galleries, Bowning NSW. I am exploring the deep connections to the landscape both from my perspective as an artist to the connections landholders have to their properties.
I create my art in my studio at Strathnairn Arts which is on the western fringe of Canberra overlooking the stunning Brindabella mountain range.
