Sally Edmonds is an English artist who has made Perth her permanent home.
Sally is driven by an enormous passion for birds. A true love of her subject shows through her work which explores the dramatic beauty and the wonderful colours of the species.
After studying art in the UK briefly, Sally went off on a tangent into Graphic Design but has returned to make art her profession in the last few years. Sally has enjoyed some successes in competition; her entry into the Clifton Art Prize won the Peopleโs Choice Award in 2016, for example. As well as competition work, Sally has been busy with pet portraiture and several commissions which have included landscapes, wildlife and human portraits. Involvement with the Military Art Program sees Sally teaching art classes to ex and serving military personnel. These classes are part of a program designed to help PTSD sufferers cope with and manage their disorder. The program had great results last year and will continue this year with Sally as one of its permanent fixtures.
In her work, Sally likes to head towards realism but not photo realism. It is important to her that her marks be seen for what they are.
