The original pen and ink drawing is a finalist in the 2021 Adelaide Hills Landscape Arts Prize.
I had originally intended to incorporate every known species of eucalypt into a single drawing in some way. It didnât take much research to discover that there are approximately nine hundred. Hmmm, I thought to myself, about a hundred would be a good number. Then I discovered that there used to be 103 South Australian species of eucalypt, but three have now been moved to the genus âCorymbiaâ, making exactly 100 of the genus âEucalyptusâ. Perfect! The central River Red Gum is surrounded by patterns representing each of the South Australian eucalypts.
Limited edition archival quality prints on Hahnemuhle German Etching paper. To be honest, they look better than the original - the black is so rich and lush and the paper is beautiful.
