Sally Robinson is an award winning portrait artist who lives and works in Sydney, Australia. She began her career in art as a printmaker producing screenprints. When she returned to painting, she continued to use stencils to produce the bold textures that are a feature of her work. Stencilled dots, dashes and lines of paint produce a complex aggregation of colour and tone which flicker across the paintingโs surface yet, in their juxtaposition, create a synthetic reality that echoes the pixellated way we see the world in the mass media.Sally Robinson has studied and taught art at tertiary level, exhibited nation wide in solo and group exhibitions, and has works in national and international collections. In 2012 she won the Portia Geach Memorial Prize for Portraiture, in 2015 the Gallipoli Art Prize and in 2016, the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize.
