The word palimpsest originally described a page from a manuscript written on parchment, that had been rubbed smooth so it could be used again, with traces of the original writing showing through. My palimpsest series uses layers of stencilled lines to create a changing perspective of colour and direction - sometimes the underlying lines seem to come to the fore and at other times the top layer seems to dominate.
