This piece draws clear inspiration from Impressionist and Plein Air painting traditions, with its emphasis on light and atmosphere. The work shares qualities with the landscapes of early American Impressionists and painters like Claude Monet, who focused on capturing fleeting moments in nature through colour and light. The use of rich, contrasting colours and textural brushstrokes also aligns with Post-Impressionist techniques, where artists like Van Gogh explored expressive textures in natural settings. The artwork's realistic yet painterly approach allows viewers to feel immersed in the scene, experiencing both the calmness of the lake and the ruggedness of the rocky shore.

Artist Bio
“My name is Samuel Brett, I was born in Melbourne/Australia in 1995. My first experiences as an artist was when I was just a toddler I’ve always had a passion for drawing and painting and I grew to love Traditional Realism once I started taking classes in Peninsula Art Society when I was 10 years old.
It was here that I realized that I wanted to pursue my career in this field.
My influences were Diego Velazques, Edward Hopper, Rembrandt, Casper David Friedrich, Caravaggio
I went on to study for my Diploma where I earned my qualifications in Visual Arts.
It was here that I further expanded on my knowledge in working with Oil Paints, Charcoal and Graphite where I found my passion for painting cityscapes, landscapes and Portraiture.
I work primarily in Oil paints and I currently work from nature and street Scenes so I can capture a sense of realism to the viewer.
