Artwork Description

This is yet another edition in my reclaimed art series "How to aggravate the elderly". The title of this work refers to the contemporary values of people and the way we highlight the elements of our lives and others that we like, or find beautiful and appealing and ignore the dull, boring, bitter, painful or mundane. The background of this artwork was a dull mix of faded baby blues, creams and tan colours...so i filtered it out, and drew attention to the features that were more redeemable within the artwork, birds, flowers, and a pretty whimsical girl. This represents the way we hide our problems, and amplify the features we decide are important. Black out the boring, highlight the beautiful...like a snapchat filter that removes blemishes and adds a gorgeous glow to our features. This painting is a lie, covering up a mundane truth.

Artist Bio

I find that my art enables me to express elements of my world that can't necessarily be seen by the naked eye, its an attempt at conveying something a bit intangible. Abstraction is the primary way I communicate my ideas and experiences in art.
The naive and somewhat primitive lines, shapes, colours and textures I use are my attempt at capturing the atmosphere, personality or feeling of a place or person I have encountered in my life, realism or a photograph in my opinion doesn't always capture these elements of the world.
I feel that my art brings these to the surface...it shows the soul of something, somewhere, or someone. Perhaps you will see someone you know within my strange works, maybe even yourself.
