I recently returned from a trip overseas and all I could think about was what I should paint next. I've discovered that by distancing myself from painting (even though I hate doing that) actually provides me time to think of new ideas...perhaps too many though. While it's great to have so many new ideas they seem to come too quickly and I end up in a state of mental congestion. To remedy this I decided to revisit an old idea and paint over it to form something new. The multiple portraits in these small works convey the multitude of ideas in my mind that I have to wrestle with, maybe in painting out this feeling of mental congestion it will allow me to think more clearly.
