Deep Dive

Everyone keeps telling me my artworks seem quite scattered stylistically, but thats only if you look at them as independent entities. Imagine my art of late as a flip book, each canvas is a new page telling an ongoing story of myself. Change and Consequence, Wander Lost Wanderlust, and now Deep Dive. This artwork is a kind of mental image of me taking a plunge into the art abyss, I have no idea whats going to be beyond the surface, but I need to do it. The landscape is a bit of a dream styled reference to my current coastal location in Forster, but also to some David Hockney style paintings ive been inspired by lately. The time to jump off the board into that big colourful pool is getting ever closer, I am nervous and excited, but maybe thats why I need to do it.

I find that my art enables me to express elements of my world that can't necessarily be seen by the naked eye, its an attempt at conveying something a bit intangible. Abstraction is the primary way I communicate my ideas and experiences in art.
The naive and somewhat primitive lines, shapes, colours and textures I use are my attempt at capturing the atmosphere, personality or feeling of a place or person I have encountered in my life, realism or a photograph in my opinion doesn't always capture these elements of the world.
I feel that my art brings these to the surface...it shows the soul of something, somewhere, or someone. Perhaps you will see someone you know within my strange works, maybe even yourself.
