I like to ponder the future, both the worries and hopes I have for it. I think its healthy to do it in moderation, I know to spend to long pondering what will happen next can lead to becoming scared to move forward. But the future can provide sources of aspiration and for me inspiration. While it can be somewhat frightening I dont let that deter me from my goals. This is a companion painting to my most recent abstract, I created it because there is a second line of thinking i have found myself having to navigate. As you grow there are qualities, behaviours and ways of being that you will have to move away from, my previous artwork hints on that. However, there are things that are necessary to hold on to as you progress, the proverbial hills you will die on. If you abandon a behaviour, mentality, line of reasoning that has lead you in a positive direction you may change your future and not for the better depending on what you value. It is a tough way to exist and it requires constant self examination to establish what is or isnt working for you. You need to consider both the past and present, for better and worse, know when to abandon a hill with dead grass and dust, but stand firm on a different hill that is fertile and lush, the hill you die on can be the beautiful one where you grow and flourish until old age.
