Artwork Description

This Diptych is comprised of two canvases both measuring at 91.5cm x 91.5cm, both works are framed with a black float frame. The total dimensions for each canvas including frame is 93.5cm x 93.5cm with a combined dimension of 93.5cm x 187cm.

This diptych explores the experience of falling in love with someone, the little ways in which we change as we become a couple.
We begin to take on our significant others mannerisms, sometimes music tastes, share experiences, both highs and lows and we begin to trust and see each other in totality, with our strengths and flaws, quirks and idiosyncrasies and choosing to work on or embrace them . That's part of growth...revealing everything about ourselves, we melt into each other to become something new.

I find that my art enables me to express elements of my world that can't necessarily be seen by the naked eye, its an attempt at conveying something a bit intangible. Abstraction is the primary way I communicate my ideas and experiences in art.
The naive and somewhat primitive lines, shapes, colours and textures I use are my attempt at capturing the atmosphere, personality or feeling of a place or person I have encountered in my life, realism or a photograph in my opinion doesn't always capture these elements of the world.
I feel that my art brings these to the surface...it shows the soul of something, somewhere, or someone. Perhaps you will see someone you know within my strange works, maybe even yourself.
