Artwork Description

Belle Orque, is French for Beautiful Orca and I named this piece accordingly as I started learning French the week I completed the work.

This piece beautifully captures the magnificence of a breaching Orca using the intricate pointillism technique and is testament to meticulous attention to detail, extreme patience and my love and commitment to this style. Orca took over 25 hours to complete and is truly stunning. The piece has been professionally framed with black wood, silver trim and finished with a double matte board and non-reflective glass.

Orca fun facts: Orcas aren’t whales
Despite being called killer whales, orcas (Orcinus orca) are actually dolphins. Historically, sailors took to calling these marine mammals whale killers after witnessing them preying on whales and other marine mammals.

Over time the name changed. While these large animals are apex predators that threaten fish and other animals, as of 2013 there’s never been a record of wild orcas attacking humans.

Artist Bio

Heart Art – ‘Heartfelt Dots & More’

I am new to the Bluethumb community and excited to be here to share my story, artwork, and purpose with collectors and artists alike. (I'm working on adding my finished pieces to the portfolio)

I am a passionate artist and the creative force behind Heart Art, a unique social enterprise that blends the artwork with my profound love for nature, particularly animals. My favourite and preferred medium is pointillism (especially stippling), as this style helps me create realistic texture to my work, allowing you to step into the intricate world of unique Australian wildlife, the mysteries of the deep sea, and all the cherished animals and companions in between that enrich our lives. I am obsessed with them all!

What is pointillism and stippling? Simply put, it is the meticulous placement of tens of thousands of tiny dots onto canvas or paper, to create images that are not just visually striking and detailed, but emotionally resonant. Each dot tells a story, and every piece of art captures the essence and I hope soul of the subject.

A distinctive and fun feature of my work is the inclusion of a small heart in each piece. This heart is not just a symbol, but a testament to my genuine affection for the creatures and an invitation to the collector and/or viewer to find the heart in every piece and get up close to appreciate the detail. My portfolio reflects a deep fascination with the animal kingdom.

When I'm not in my home studio or hanging out with my beautiful greyhound, I lend my heart and hands to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Australia. This close interaction with Aussie wildlife serves as a wellspring of inspiration for me. My work is sold in print format at Lone Pine, enabling visitors to take a little piece of Australia home with them.

Heart Art isn't just a name; it's a philosophy; it's an expression of my love for nature and her commitment to making a positive impact. My work has found homes in collections around the world, from Australia to Europe and beyond. I donate 50% of all sales of my Elephant artwork to various Elephant charities, but one that is particularly close to my heart, Elephant Nature Park, (Thailand) where I also spend time volunteering every year.
