Inspired by the book 'The Lost Man' by Jane Harper. I created this artwork after reading the book. At the time (March 2019), I was creating a lot of abstract landscapes based on the 'red deserts' of the Australian outback. I was also creating a lot of 'backgrounds' using some very rudimentary printmaking, applying acrylic paint to found objects like perspex tiles ('borrowed' from a servo I used to work at in the early 90s). The sky and ground are both sections of larger sheets of paper where I was using this technique. The parts of the 'lost man' are off cuts of acrylic paint on water colour paper... it took a while to find the right off cuts to make the man.
