Artwork Description

In this expressive yet minimal portrait I tried to sculpt the forms with minimum touches similar to a chalk and charcoal drawing in a chiaroscuro style. The low-key outcome contrasts many of my other high-key portraits yet follows the same pattern of exploring subtle value transitions

Saman is a Melbourne-based artist who uses a variety of visual art mediums to interpret and express his perceptions of the human environment. Saman has featured his artworks in group exhibitions in Melbourne over the last four years. He was shortlisted for the Norma Bull Portrait Scholarship 2024.
