Exploring away from their campsite was always exciting, a lot more exciting than sitting around watching the adults indulge in beer after beer.
Claiming these camping trips were made to make memories together, but the kids heard the words “go play for a while” more and more as the day went on and the adults ability to remember became less and less.
She stared at the skeleton in wonder, how did this creature become bones in the earth?
Did it know it was gone?
For a brief minute, it seemed like time was standing still, just as they were. Contemplating their own mortality whilst they mapped out the skeleton with their eyes.
A faint call from the direction of the campsite snapped them out of their trance.
And with memory and meaning collected from that moment, the children ran down the hill for dinner.
