"Flare" represents the paradox of choice. Blue is widely known as a serene and calming colour but in this image it's blinding. For long periods of my life, I was isolated, cold, bitter and avoided leaving my home from being overwhelmed.
The paradox of choice is an observation that having many options to choose from, rather than making people happy and ensuring they get what they want, can cause them stress and decrease decision-making

Artist Bio
Hi there, I'm Samantha Marié (Kiley) and I'm 25 and currently finishing up my curating degree! (update)
Born and raised in Brisbane, I currently reside in Melbourne, where I pursue my love for contemporary art.
My background is in abstract paintings and creating work for people's homes. Although growing into a young adult, photography stuck with me the most as a practice.
I moved up into the world of contemporary photography, drawing inspiration from Gregory Crewdson and Taryn Simon, who explore ambiguous and unsettling subject matters.
