This image is part of a larger series called “Runaways” (2019), which explores the journey of different protagonists in their own search to find each other in a barren late stage capitalist apocalypse but inevitably never meet. The initial inspiration came from the first episode of the Walking Dead show “Day Gone Bye.” The protagonist in the story wakes up from a coma with the streets being abandoned and comes to realise he has woken up to a world where the rest of the population is wiped out by the dead. To uncover the truth, the protagonist has to uncover the truth and find other survivors. The series takes a last-man-standing storyline, where the landscape is shaped by lighting and posing to mimic a sense of urgency and longing.

Artist Bio
Hi there, I'm Samantha Marié (Kiley) and I'm 25 and currently finishing up my curating degree! (update)
Born and raised in Brisbane, I currently reside in Melbourne, where I pursue my love for contemporary art.
My background is in abstract paintings and creating work for people's homes. Although growing into a young adult, photography stuck with me the most as a practice.
I moved up into the world of contemporary photography, drawing inspiration from Gregory Crewdson and Taryn Simon, who explore ambiguous and unsettling subject matters.
