Artwork Description

What drives me to seals is their striking likeness’s to dogs not just in appearance but in their playful spirit especially when swimming or interacting with each other. When I first began painting Mr Miyagi he actually started out looking like a staffy but as I worked on him the whiskers emerged and with them his seal identity came to life. That’s when I knew his name was Mr. Miyagi a name like many of my painted animals that came from spending long hours in their imagine presence. What I love most about seals their curiosity even towards humans. There’s a gentle intelligence in their eyes that feels familiar and endearing. It’s no secret I love working with greens and blues colours that feel like the natural world itself - and seals, with their oceanic home, are the perfect muse for that palette..

Artist Bio

Samantha , an artist from the Central Coast, is deeply inspired by her natural surroundings seeking, serenity and harmony in her work. Her creations reflect the magic she discovers in nature, drawing from the sea, land, animals, and mythical creatures. Her artistic journey began 15 years ago during the Frangipani craze when she first experimented with acrylic painting. Captivated by the medium, she pursued her passion further, taking up painting at Inspired Art Space in Catherine Hill Bay, where she found encouragement and inspiration.

Samantha splits her time between her studio, work and family commitments to stay grounded and takes the time to slow down allowing her natural creative process to grow. Most days you will find down at the local beach sitting down having her morning coffee getting inspired to create another masterpiece.

Samantha enjoys working with a variety of media, including acrylics, inks and palette knives, which allows her to explore creativity freely and focus on the bigger picture rather than the minor details. While she considers herself an amateur, Samantha has attended numerous workshops to continuously grow her skills and maintain an open-minded approach to art. Her ultimate dream is to make affordable art accessible to homes across Australia, sharing the peace and magic she experiences through her art.
