Artwork Description

Abandoned house and the harpist
This painting is one of my works from the Music Series. Melody of each music instrument has been a great inspiration to characterise the musicians and creating a surrealistic atmosphere by composing the subject into abstract forms and colour combinations.
My attempt to break some clichés; The images might be seen in book illustrations, movies or heard in fairy-tail stories, in which picturing a glamorous and luxurious palace with cherry blossom in the air, and a beautiful woman is playing a harp among the garden’s flowers, and every one is joyfully dancing and drinking.
In this painting where the concept conflicts the stereotype. Harpist as the hero of the painting is placed in an old abounded house and peacefully playing enchanting song.
Approaching warmer and brighter colours as dominate the darker and mute portion of the painting, symbolises the magical impression of music whilst it’s bringing the life back to the abandoned house.

Artist Bio

I’m Samira Khadivizand, an Iranian-Australian artist. Painting has always been the core of my practice. As a multidisciplinary artist, I blend painting with forms and meanings shaped by cultural and social influences, often reflecting both personal and collective experiences through an abstract and poetic visual language.
