Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
One of the paintings from my last solo exhibition at SOL gallery, “Timeless Past”
The timeless past series explores the complex emotions and experiences arising from migration and settling in a new country. Samira seeks to express the contradictions and confusion of navigating unfamiliar cultural and social landscapes through heavy contrast between colours and lights. Her creative process involves moulding her imagination in time-frame, drawing from both the brumous memories of the past and the brighter, more vivid combinations of current events and fantasies. Through this technique, Samira creates a visual narrative that explores various episodes of her life with a touch of magical realism. Her artwork invites viewers to contemplate migration's challenges and triumphs and consider the social and cultural impacts of settling in a new country. Samira highlights the tension and complexity inherent in these experiences while celebrating the resilience and creativity of those who navigate them.

Artist Bio

I’m Samira Khadivizand, an Iranian-Australian artist. Painting has always been the core of my practice. As a multidisciplinary artist, I blend painting with forms and meanings shaped by cultural and social influences, often reflecting both personal and collective experiences through an abstract and poetic visual language.
