Artwork Description

As an artist, part of my creative process involves moments when I turn to drawing and painting on a small scale. During these times, I focus on the often-overlooked elements of my surroundings -colours, forms, scents, tastes, sounds, people, objects, and other fleeting details that usually pass me by in daily life. When one of these elements briefly catches my attention, it draws me -almost instinctively -toward my brushes and paints.

This particular painting is one of a series of eight, each created on a different day at the beginning of 2025. Each piece unfolded over a period of two to four days, offering me a deeply enjoyable and intimate experience. Together, they capture small windows of time -moments of quiet attention and sensory presence- and I hope they bring a sense of delight and gentle form to whatever corner of the wall they may rest upon.

Artist Bio

I’m Samira Khadivizand, an Iranian-Australian artist. Painting has always been the core of my practice. As a multidisciplinary artist, I blend painting with forms and meanings shaped by cultural and social influences, often reflecting both personal and collective experiences through an abstract and poetic visual language.
