Artwork Description

Bold and native to Australia, the Grevillea tree has a wide range of flowers, ranging from red to white. Although there are more than 360 species of Grevillea tree in Australia, a few of these can live outside the habitat. Common names include Spider Flower, Silky-oak and Toothbrush.
Many diverse Aboriginal groups use Grevillea nectar to make sweet drinks. Grevillea represents the sign of love, faith, and calmness

Artist Bio

With paint running through her veins, Goulburn-based artist, author, and pattern designer Sami Sparrow was born with a crayon in her hand and the imagination to use it in a million ways.
Sami’s artwork captures her explorations of the natural world and its botanical forms. Using techniques that draw influence from street and tattoo art, along with printmaking and minimalist abstraction, Sami brings life to each creation through her use of bold and vivid colours.
Floral compositions, detailed line work, and distorted shapes are recurring themes. Sami’s minimalist observation of nature offers a sense of both simplicity and refinement.
With a degree in Fine Arts and Visual Arts, Sami developed her eye for creating detailed line drawing with her unique street culture style. Since this time Sami has authored three internationally published colouring books through HarperCollins publisher, had her work licensed to feature on products with multiple companies and has also been showcased in numerous art exhibitions including her first solo show in 2019.
