As a self-employed graphic designer for over 25 years, I have now picked up a brush and paint full-time.
Graphic and still life topics in impasto acrylics are my choice of style and medium. The beauty and lifestyle of my home located near the sea on the Gold Coast provides an array of inspiration. Colourful, bright, and happy subjects with a dash of humour are most important in my work. I love creating positive and happy feelings through art bursting with colour.
My paintings lack seriousness and I aim to have fun with stressful topics.
I have been learning French for a number of years and use this as my language to communicate in my work but also love that the language is spoken in many countries located in the sunny tropics. My ancestry of northern France Delft pottery painters has influenced my love of using the Delft style on ginger jars in my art.
I am big on recycling and the existing texture of preloved canvases are my preference to paint on. I also love finding mis-tinted paint especially as it is a way of throwing an unexpected colour into my work.
My pieces are large and made for impact. They will make a statement in most environmments.
My works have been sold privately, through various online galleries, The Artists Hub in Surfers Paradise and at GEM Emporium at Pacific Fair, as well as through commissions.
