Artwork Description

This eye catching contemporary acrylic still life painting, bursting with joy and colour will light up your walls. Capturing the native flowers of South Africa (proteas) and Australia (waratahs), the combined symbolism of these two flowers speaks of beauty seen from afar as well as change and transformation.

The perfect painting for lovers of colour and native flowers, the gold highlights of the vase glistens exuding a surreal magic drawing the viewers eye into the finer detail. The lush patterns of the surrounding tablecloth and curtain provide the ideal setting reminiscent of timeless Marimekko design.

Sancha loves to paint still life subject matter using freshly cut flowers from local growers and florists.

Professionally framed behind glass with an archival double white mat board and a gorgeous light timber frame.

Artist Bio

Sancha is an Award-winning artist, Professional Singer, Holistic Wellness Coach and all-round creative soul, based on the Central Coast of NSW. Daily walks through the bush and along the water’s edge provide inspiration for her colour-filled and joyful watercolour and mixed media artworks. A true creative at heart, Sancha’s practise is continually evolving.

After many years studying the finer details of technique with some of Australia’s most established artists, she has developed her own expression and style.
Often starting with a wash of watercolour on paper, Sancha layers each work with a variety of mediums including gouache, acrylic paint, inks and pens until she’s happy with the results.
Her distinctive painting style while impressionistic also exudes design like qualities. Her recent work has seen an abundance of colourful acrylic and mixed media on rice and watercolour paper.

‘Each artwork is a meditation for me, a chance to slow down and create in the present moment. I get lost in the shapes, the subtle changes of tones, the way the light dances, the fluidity of the mediums I am working with. I often start with a design in mind, but each artwork takes on it’s own energy as the layers build. It’s just like a piece of music really, as different instruments bring their specific magic together to create a harmonious sound, I’m composing with lines, shapes, colours and textures to create a ‘visual song’. My intention is that the viewer might be able to glimpse something of the eternal in my work and feel a sense of joy and connection to Nature.’

Sancha often gathers quick sketches ‘en plein air’ and then brings them to life at her easel when back in the studio. Of course always surrounded by music.
Her subject matter reflects her daily life often depicting, musicians at play, a vase of flowers, luscious beach scenes, tranquil vistas of the Hawkesbury River area, Central Coast & scenes around Sydney as well as the ethereal and spiritual world.

Art has always been an integral part of Sancha’s life and she was brought up by a family who deeply valued the arts.
Her great aunt and uncle were cherished Australian watercolourists Ruth Tuck & Mervyn Smith.
She paints in acrylic, watercolours and mixed media.

Sancha also has a passion for surface design and is well known for her beautiful Coastal Art Tea Towels, Scarves, Cushion Covers, Zipper Pouches and Greeting Cards. These products as well as a large selection of Fine Art Prints can be found on her website.
