Artwork Description

This painting is inspired by the mid-11th century Sandstone sculpture ‘Celestial Dancer’, which is assumed to be from the ‘Chandela’ period. Originally from Madhya Pradesh (Central India), the sculpture is now exhibited at the ‘The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York’. (https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/38153)

This work is my respectful tribute to the amazing Indian architecture of ancient times .

Artist Bio

I am a self-taught artist, emerging out of my hobby-painting phase into the real and fascinating world of art. I have been painting mostly with acrylic and have recently started to train myself in oil.

My idea about art has been deeply influenced by my Indian upbringing, culture and tradition. For the same reason, my Indian back ground can be seen reflected in most of my earlier works. I hope to become versatile enough to do various streams of painting, like murals, abstracts, realism and portraiture.
