About

Sandra Earle-Russo is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist working predominantly in oil, oil and cold wax or encaustic medium. She will frequently take a side journey to printmaking or fibre and textile though, and both continually challenge and surprise her. Her current experimentation is with various combinations of textile, printmaking and encaustic medium. Sandra is a non-representational artist who paints intuitively and often believes that the subject of her work is the paint or medium she is using at the time. The country and the earth also influence, and inspire her art.

Born in the rural town of Burra, South Australia near the middle of last century Sandra has lived her adult life in Adelaide with many weekends spent exploring the country. Art, mark making and creating have always been part of her life, or at least as long as she can remember.
Earle-Russo is predominantly self-taught although she is currently studying part-time for a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Adelaide Central School of Art. Artists she admires and who may have influenced her own art practice include, among others, Pierre Soulages, Clyfford Still, Zao Wou Ki, Franz Kline, Toko Shinodo, Richard Diebenkorn and Helen Frankenthaler.

As an active member of The Royal South Australian Society of Arts she regularly exhibits in their exhibitions and assists with selection, curating and marketing. She has also exhibited in recent SALA exhibitions and is exhibiting in SALA 2018.
