Paperbarks

A deep impasto base was created, from which emerged the outline of trees. The challenge was to choose restful coastal colours but to still make them work with the earthiness of trees. The evolved was the lovely subtle colours of West. Australian swamp land paperbarks. Many of which line our walkways and parks where relaxing walks are often taken.

With the desire to work with colour and no previous experience, my friend said, "Just Play". So "just play" I did...with inherited paint and brushes. I gave into an unstructured, unorchestrated side of myself that i hadn't explored since childhood. Over time I found a place that I wanted to retreat to more often, and with it came pleasing and expressive forms of creativity born out of my desire, and need, to connect with nature and myself. You will find me in Southwest WA, having recently relocated from the city for a quieter and kinder way of life.
