Artwork Description

This was part of 3 realism paintings that I created with black backgrounds. Previous to that I was mostly painting large colourful abstracts. Every know and then I like to challenge and prove to myself (and others) that I can paint realism. I find painting realism not as satisfying as abstract, as I need to be tighter and controlled, but I do love the result of this colourful floral. I love the excitement of the painting and by having the black background it makes it more modern. I always want drama and emotion to be in play in my paintings, that you could stare at and discover new elements.

Artist Bio

Sandra has been painting since the age of 11, when she started painting classes after school. It was a love affair that has lasted for over 30 years. After concentrating on art and photography in high school, she then went on to study Art & Design for 5 years, earning an Advanced Certificate of Art and Design, and a Bachelor of Arts (Graphic Design). Working for many years as a Graphic Designer, she has also continually sold her paintings in her spare time. Since the beginning of 2019, she decided to take her passion more seriously and practice everyday, became a member of MAVA (Melbourne and Victorian Artists), and regularly exhibits in exhibitions. Sandra enjoys experimenting with materials, styles and techniques, but always comes back to Acrylic on canvas. She creates realism, abstract and lately in-between with her underwater jellyfish themes. She is looking forward to continually growing and evolving as a painter. You can view more of her work through her website and social media pages.
