Artwork Description

"Finding Clarity" was based on the theme of Manifest. For this theme, I had to look at the idea of what “Manifest” means to me. I see manifest as ideas/pictures that you form in your mind about what you see your ideal life to be, your dreams and goals without limitation or hurdles. This can be a battle with your mind as it fights for control to rein in your dreams. I began the artwork by brainstorming what I really wanted to say about the subject. I then choose the colour palette to reflect these ideas. I wanted high contrast in some areas, expressing the idea that our thoughts can be our own worst enemies when trying to create the life we want. For me, its about trying to push the negative feelings back to allow yourself the freedom to be happy and reach your goals. To acknowledge that those feelings are there but push past them.”

Artist Bio

Sandra has been painting since the age of 11, when she started painting classes after school. It was a love affair that has lasted for over 30 years. After concentrating on art and photography in high school, she then went on to study Art & Design for 5 years, earning an Advanced Certificate of Art and Design, and a Bachelor of Arts (Graphic Design). Working for many years as a Graphic Designer, she has also continually sold her paintings in her spare time. Since the beginning of 2019, she decided to take her passion more seriously and practice everyday, became a member of MAVA (Melbourne and Victorian Artists), and regularly exhibits in exhibitions. Sandra enjoys experimenting with materials, styles and techniques, but always comes back to Acrylic on canvas. She creates realism, abstract and lately in-between with her underwater jellyfish themes. She is looking forward to continually growing and evolving as a painter. You can view more of her work through her website and social media pages.
