The concept of fate came from Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung, who mentioned that ‘the work in process becomes the poet’s fate and determines his psychic development. It is not Goethe who creates Faust, but Faust which creates Goethe’. For me, painting is like fate that leads me to find myself, appreciate nature, and explore the cosmos.
If you are familiar with Michelangelo’s ‘Genesis’, you might find the composition of this three paintings is borrowed from ‘The Creation of Adam’. If there is a creator out there to control human fate, I believe he creates humans for us to cherish lovely moments. The red threads of fate are turned into wool for the cat to play with.
