Artwork Description

The figure of this cat is borrowed from the Chinese painter Qi Baishi (1864–1957), whose work was influenced by Daoism, a Chinese philosophy that pursues a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. He said, ‘What I painted are mostly things that are often seen in daily life.’ My visual poetry is also inspired by aesthetic moments from my everyday life. I combine lotus flowers and lotus seeds in the pond, green birds in the clear sky, the fountain in the treasure vase, and red carps in my Summer’s Memory.

Artist Bio

I have been capturing the floating moments from my inner vision and transforming them into harmonious hues. When I paint, I feel a natural connection with the universe. This connection moves me to create lyrical narratives, bringing a painterly world to life.

I am a painter with over a decade of experience and hold a Master of Fine Arts from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Since 2023, I have exhibited in both group and solo exhibitions, including at L27 Art Gallery, Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, No Vacancy Gallery, Brunswick Street Gallery, GALLERYGALLERY INC, and the Museum of Chinese Australian History. My graduate work has been recognised with the Yarra Branch Award from the Australian Decorative & Fine Arts Society.
