The painting "Tides of Serenity and Passion" is a vivid exploration of emotions through colour and form. I mainly selected the cool blues and greens to represent serenity, peace, and calm, evoking feelings of stability, introspection, and clarity. These colours often remind of tranquil natural elements like water and sky, which traditionally symbolize emotional balance and reflective moments.
In contrast, I picked bold reds and oranges to bring passion, intensity, and warmth into the scene. These fiery colours signify the dynamic and energetic aspects of experience, such as love, anger, excitement, or even transformation. I chose to merge these tones reflects how serenity and passion coexist in life often in tension, but sometimes in harmony.
By blending these opposites, I wanted to convey the ebb and flow of emotional states. Just as the tide moves between calm and turbulence, emotions shift from moments of deep peace to bursts of intense feeling. I intended to capture this constant motion, portraying how emotions are neither static nor isolated, but interconnected and evolving.
Naming the painting as "Tides of Serenity and Passion" further emphasizes this duality. The "tides" metaphor suggests the rhythmic, cyclical nature of emotions, while "serenity" and "passion" express the two primary emotional poles. The title speaks to the painting’s core theme: the dynamic balance between calm and intensity, offering viewers a reflection of their own emotional landscapes.
