My name is Santana Mason Whadjuk & Yued Noongar Artist & Birdiya
Im a Whadjuk and Yued Birdiya (Elder) whose contemporary practice is deeply influenced by the ancient landscapes of Boorloo (Perth) and the Moore River region.
In a rapidly changing modern world, My work serves as a vital anchor—a visual bridge between the Kaartdijin (knowledge) of Kura (long ago) and the pulse of Yeye (today). Their art is a sophisticated exploration of Wirrin (spirit) and Boodja (Country), translating the timeless rhythms of the Six Noongar Seasons into a Moorditj (strong) contemporary aesthetic.
Influenced by the vivid shifts from the flowering abundance of Kambarang to the regenerative rains of Makuru, I use Vivid Colours Nutural acrylics / textured mixed Work to map the spiritual contours of the South West. My practice is a dedicated act of Waalbiirniny (healing), creating a Kwobidak (beautiful) dialogue between traditional storytelling and the modern eye.
As a Custodian and Knowledge Holder, My ArtWork ensures the voices of their Birdiya (Elders) continue to resonate for the generations of Kurlonggur (children) to come. To invest in a 45,000-year-old story, reimagined through the vision of a contemporary Traditional Owner.
My Artworks are held in private and public collections and are available for acquisition.
