I grow up surrounded by art. I studied art in the north of Italy and I was also lucky enough to spent lots of time in what is called “Bottega artigiana” where I learnt some rudimental art from the best, my dad. I learnt how to mix different techniques, old and modern, together. I get my inspiration from past painters, amongst my favourites Josef Capek, master of the Czech Cubism and Expressionism, and Amedeo Modigliani whose name doesn’t need further explanation. Thanks to their example, my brush is always picking inside tubes of vibrant acrylic colours. My newest passion is Australian houses, old Queenslanders in particular, full of history and charm that I try to bring back to life with sepia or black and white inks. I paint from my house in the tropical Queensland surrounded by a beautiful and bossy nature that in every season encourages and influences my work. Even if I dream of the beautiful views of Venice that I immortalize on different substrates from paper to wood, I don’t desire to be in any other place in the world.
